At Dolac Market, everyday bustle meets memories of cars and motorcycles from Armour of God. A few streets away, Zagreb stood in for Poland in Sophie’s Choice, the film that earned Meryl Streep an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Orson Welles found a setting for Kafka’s The Trial in front of the cathedral, while the courtyard at 11 Basaričekova Street became part of One Song a Day Takes Mischief Away. Later productions brought a helicopter to the sports ground behind Mimara and the action of Canary Black into the city centre.
